SKB was retained to provide the 120,000 SF DC-based law firm full design services that involved renovations in phases; located in the Metropolitan Square Building.

The building was assembled from several structures 1 block from the White House, with an eccentric-shaped atrium and a relatively small column bay system. The floors step back as they move up to allow for roof terraces to look over the White House.

Despite the sever physical constraints, SKB was able to provide a significant increase in the Attorney/SF ratio while consolidating the support functions such as Library and Office Services. The primary two floors were joined by an large atrium surrounded by new conference rooms. The glass walls of the conference rooms bring in natural light to the center atrium, resulting in an office that is more efficient, with a tighter plan, and yet open and spacious.
